A Little Bit About Myself

My name is Andrew Simek. I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, studied in London, and am currently enjoy living in London. My post-secondary education led me to study Architectural Technology at Fanshawe College, specialize in Autodesk Revit at George Brown College and further explore 3D Design and BIM with 3DS Max at the 3D Training Institute. I have had a chance to work at some great architecture firms in Ontario that have sharpened my abilities and gave me great working experience with industry professionals. My education and work experience has generated a respect for architecture on a personal level; namely through observing buildings I pass by, looking at their construction, appreciating historic influences and realizing how design has evolved and advanced over the years.

Ever since I can remember I have enjoyed drawing, playing and learning with Legos. I believe these alone have had a great impact on what inspires me; creation, 3D design and architecture. Learning applications such as SketchUp, Softplan, AutoCAD, 3DS Max and Revit have provided a great learning experience and allowed my creativity to grow. I have always drawn, but being able to create my 2D designs in fully functional 3D computer programs has allowed me to express my creativity; I am always learning new things. Not only am I using these applications for school and work, but I enjoy creating my own projects the side – framed renderings for friends and family. I have helped many people with floor plans and realistic renderings for their own projects at home and school, and have been able to use them for great sentimental gift ideas. Additionally, these programs are great for personal home renovations and room decoration/ furniture rearrangements.

As for other activities, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family, friends, and pets, and both playing/watching sports.

I have the drive for success and show extremely hard work ethic to complete the task. I am a very honest individual, and will always give 100% and strive for the best. I am always eager to learn new skills and help out whenever I can.
